The style of yoga that most people are familiar with practicing is the “yang” style of yoga. Usually, these styles are a bit more up-tempo and rigorous - Vinyasa, Fusion, Flow, Ashtanga. But of course, every yang needs a yin! Yin Yoga is a more relaxing style, and it is the perfect complement to the rest of your practice.
Check out one of our signature IHP moves! Remember this is a high-intensity low impact workout so this wide-legged 1/2 burpee may look a little different than what you are used to! https://youtu.be/6lRes_OJRxw
Grab this quick 15 min HIIT. We jump right in – so if you want a warm-up, grab it before you hit play.
What’s up with these bridges we do at the beginning of every IHP class? We use glute bridges as a way to warm up for the rest of the class. Spending the majority of the day on our caboose can wreak some serious havoc on our bodies. The backside is underused and overstretched while the front gets shorter and weaker. This leads to the position of our pelvis and spine changing and creates pain and dysfunction through the rest of the body, usually resulting in chronic back pain. Activating your glutes helps get you ready for a more effective class [...]
Did you know Sophie, yes – email Sophie, is a beautiful writer and currently working on her P.h.D? At the beginning of covid, we asked Sophie to write a piece for us relating to her work, quarantine, and yoga. Enjoy ❤️❤️❤️❤️ As a Ph.D. student in social psychology, I’m fascinated by the different ways in which we align ourselves with one another. For example, we imitate the people we talk to, from their gestures and facial expressions down to things as tiny as their pupil dilations. And it’s good that we do this because studies have shown that by unconsciously [...]

“The first time I came to BYUV in 2016, I thought I was signing up for an evening of hot yoga. Serendipitously, this night was the night the founder of Inferno Hot Pilates, Gabby, was teaching her first ever class at BYUV and the class was free to all. At first, I was hesitant about a new workout experience but after some friendly encouragement from the staff, I decided to stay and take the class. What followed was, in short, the hardest work out I had ever done! I distinctly remember being amazed at my ability to push myself way [...]
Boy, do I feel like I’m being put to some kind of cosmic test. I know you know what I am talking about. At the studio we’ve been working on our growth plan and it’s been moving in the right direction. The staff here is truly dedicated to learning and helping to expand our offerings. We are literally bursting, classes are full, students are smiling. The winter was going along great, the kids, the snow, the dog, the projects, the yoga, good food, trips to the grands, lots of family, lots of friends. Really we are so fortunate. Then came [...]
At this moment what’s on the top of my mind is how to help you create and maintain a practice away from our hot room. This is the time where getting to class is really just throwing down a mat and jumping in. From this end Julia and I have worked out the tech details and are now running 17 live virtual classes and two scheduled pre-recorded classes every week. We’re also actively adding to a library of BYUV classes that you can pull and play on your own schedule. Oh, and Julia and Sally have some super effective quick [...]
