By |2025-08-29T12:00:48-04:00August 29th, 2025|Blog|

New Class! Strictly Strength We're kicking off a new class this fall! Everyone has something to gain from resistance training and improving joint strength, control and capacity, but not everyone is into the party vibe of our high intensity weights classes. Strictly Strength combines our love of Kinstretch and Weights to create a workout that offers a unique and impactful experience.  Strictly Strength begins with a 15-20 minutes of warm up/priming joints, using FRC principles (think CAR’s, isometric hold, pails and rails) followed by 25-30 of strength training, with minimal cardio, focusing on the joints that were prepped for the [...]

Female Specific Exercise Recommendations

By |2025-05-21T12:22:11-04:00May 21st, 2025|Blog|

Female-Specific Exercise Recommendations For a long time, fitness recommendations have looked the same across genders. Most of the research that has been done in the past was on male bodies - women were perceived just to be small men - just scale the recommendations for size and plug and play. Thankfully the landscape is changing, women specific hormone profiles are being studied and it turns out our needs, strengths, weaknesses and recommendations are much different from men. Shocking, we know!  We know more now, including that women can optimize their training based on their menstrual cycle. This information is enlightening [...]

Movement and Your Mental Health

By |2025-05-21T11:47:49-04:00May 21st, 2025|Blog|

MOVEMENT AND MENTAL HEALTH Movement and exercise can have significant impacts on mental health including reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety, improving mood, and enhancing cognitive function. Physical activity on the regular can release endorphins, boost self-esteem and provide a health coping mechanism for stress. At the Studio, we’ve also found that working out in a supportive, fun community of people with the common goal of being healthy for a lifetime goes a long way too. Other ways to improve your mental health AND boost your fitness outcomes*: Light & Dark Exposure– Morning sunlight (low solar angle) or artificial light [...]

Don’t Baby Your Back

By |2024-06-04T10:12:33-04:00June 4th, 2024|Blog|

Don’t baby your back! The cries of “I feel it in my back” or  “my back is sore!” can sometimes be heard around The Studio. And unless there is a sharp, sudden pain, or one that lingers for a long time - we say…that’s okay! Your back muscles, just like any other muscle group will get sore if you use them, especially if they’re weak. Sometimes we leave class and feel it in our abs or feel it in our shoulders, but it doesn’t seem to elicit the same response as when we feel it in our backs.  It’s been [...]

Dr. Monea: Racial Justice Trainer, Speaker & Yoga Teacher

By |2024-01-29T16:42:35-05:00January 29th, 2024|Blog|

Our Annual Staff Training on January 4th focused on Antiracism led by Dr. Monea. Dr. Monea, a racial justice speaker, trainer and yoga teacher, guided us through many thought-provoking activities over Zoom, including examining our role in systemic racism, while outlining key points in the antiracism learning journey like; take the lessons and leave the stories, expect & accept non-closure, listen for understanding, and anticipate impact. We chose this particular training to deepen our awareness of systemic racial inequities, the power of privilege, and how to build trust across racial, gender, cultural, and physical differences. These trainings help us to [...]

Let’s NOT Talk About Weight

By |2023-03-15T11:58:14-04:00March 15th, 2023|Blog|

The fitness industry has long been over saturated with diet obsessed culture.  We’ve been brainwashed from a very early age to believe that our self worth is directly related to our size. Here at The Studio we’re calling bullshit. Enough. We aren’t a ‘burn it to earn it’ studio. Our mission is to create a safe space where people are encouraged and supported to connect, heal and grow through life-changing classes taught by empowering teachers.    No shame if weight loss is one of your goals, we support all your health goals, whatever your reason for being here - we [...]

It sets us apart from the other yoga and fitness studios in the UV and it’s also been a bit of controversy over the years. Aside from the fact that we LOVE the heat and the way it makes us feel,  there's some science behind it too! We use heat as a tool in all of our classes to increase the therapy of your experience. Heat therapy has been shown in multiple studies to [...]

Finn is our homie with an extra chromie, he has Down syndrome. Finn is also immunocompromised due to a congenital heart defect and at high risk for becoming seriously ill from COVID-19. BYUV Class Highlight: Yin Yoga

By |2021-06-28T16:13:52-04:00May 24th, 2021|Blog, YIN YOGA|

The style of yoga that most people are familiar with practicing is the “yang” style of yoga. Usually, these styles are a bit more up-tempo and rigorous - Vinyasa, Fusion, Flow, Ashtanga. But of course, every yang needs a yin! Yin Yoga is a more relaxing style, and it is the perfect complement to the rest of your practice.

Work ya Buns!

By |2021-05-17T13:12:47-04:00April 29th, 2021|Blog|

What’s up with these bridges we do at the beginning of every IHP class? We use glute bridges as a way to warm up for the rest of the class. Spending the majority of the day on our caboose can wreak some serious havoc on our bodies. The backside is underused and overstretched while the front gets shorter and weaker. This leads to the position of our pelvis and spine changing and creates pain and dysfunction through the rest of the body, usually resulting in chronic back pain. Activating your glutes helps get you ready for a more effective class [...]
