🔥Let’s talk about HEAT baby!🔥

We HEART the heat at The Studio. In fact it’s the main attraction for many of our fabulous clients. It sets us apart from the other yoga and fitness studios in the UV and it’s also been a bit of controversy over the years. Aside from the fact that we LOVE the heat and the way it makes us feel,  there’s some science behind it too!

We use heat as a tool in all of our classes to increase the therapy of your experience. Heat therapy has been shown in multiple studies to relieve the symptoms of depression and anxiety, reduce the production of excess cortisol, and increase the production of “happy  hormones” in the body, like dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin and endorphins.  Whoooo baby – you leave class feeling ah-mazing! 

For all the “stiff” folks out there, heat brings you an increase in temperature that causes vasodilation or widening of the blood vessels, ultimately increasing blood flow and circulation and lowering blood pressure! This optimizes your body’s functions and helps to “loosen” you up. 

Listen, adjusting to the hot room can take some time.  Your body’s natural cooling system, thermoregulation, helps to maintain a normal core temp. The more you show up and sweat it out, the quicker your body will start to respond in cooling you down. Sweat acts as your body’s natural “AC system” pulling heat and humidity away from the body – so don’t worry about wiping that sweat away – let it flow! 

All of our teachers are trained to maintain the heat and it is NEVER abused or used to “amp up” a class.  Will some classes feel a little hotter? Yup! Some days feel a little tougher? Sure! Our own body temperature can vary slightly day to day and depending on fuel, hydration, rest, and a myriad of other reasons we will respond a little differently every now and again.  Be kind to yourself – take it a little slower – take a knee if you need to, drink some H20 and remember you are awesome for showing up!
