Pride Month, Juneteenth, Father’s Day, New Summer Schedule, Kinstretch!

So much going on this month!

June is Pride Month, commemorating the Stonewall uprising of June 1969 when lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people in New York stood up against police brutality and injustice and demanded fair treatment. Throughout Pride Month, LGBT people and their allies celebrate their accomplishments achieved since Stonewall, but they also advocate for what needs to be done in order to secure full equal rights and non-discrimination in their own countries and in solidarity with LGBT people elsewhere, in situations where anti-LGBT discrimination and violence are rampant. –Human Rights Watch

Loving Day, June 12th, Loving Day is the anniversary of the historic court decision striking down laws against interracial marriage. Richard and Mildred Loving were arrested for being married in 1958 because they were an interracial couple. Today we celebrate the 1967  Supreme Court Decision and the steps we’ve taken towards justice while acknowledging the immense amount of work to be done.

Juneteenth, on June 19th, 1865 Major General Granger rode into Gavelston, Texas to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation and free the last enslaved Black Americans, TWO and HALF years after President Lincoln had issued the Emancipation Proclamation.  On that day 250,000 enslaved people were finally granted freedom.

During this month and into the next, we’re celebrating Pride at The Studio with a fundraiser for the Pride Center of Vermont. We need 100 students to donate $10 and The Studio will match it. Let us know that you’ve donated by posting on Instagram and tagging @The Studio!
Yes, I want to DONATE!
We’ll celebrate with a special Pride Class in July in conjunction with the White River Junction Pride Week (July 22-29).

Kinstretch: Freedom and Strength

It may feel like we simply have to accept restrictions in our bodies due to injuries or joint pain. And this may be the case, UNLESS you learn how to CONTROL YOURSELF with Kinstretch. In Kinstretch we:
1. Assess each joint’s range of motion,
2. Bring awareness to what might be limiting mobility, then (using a program backed by science) we,
3. Improve and increase that range, and lastly,
4. Strengthen it!
Yes, Kinstretch is a STRENGTH class that can also help return mobility to your joints so you can get back to all the other activities you love.

It’s time you tried it (your joints will thank you). There’s no other more comprehensive class on our schedule. Need to rehab an injury? Kin. Want more flexibility and range of motion? Kin. Want more strength to start nailing those PR’s? It’s Kin for the win, baby!
