It’s November; cooler days, longer shadows, and cozy layers. We’re ushering in the season with heat, some nourishing yoga, and practicing gratitude. If you’re working hard all week in and out of the hot room, make sure you’re taking some time to rest and recover. Consider alternating your HIIT and Weights classes with one of our yogas; Yin, Flow, The Yoga or OHY. We guarantee this will leave you feeling better and improve your fitness gains.
Yes, we love HIIT! It’s the BEST class for (re)starting your exercise journey. Learn more about HIIT and its benefits in this month’s news.
Our FRC focus this month is HIPS. Come join us in Kinstretch for some awesome hip mobility & strengthening! Try HIP CARs at home to see what you have (and don’t) for hip mobility.
Perseverance is this month’s Core Value. We’re all about showing up and showing out! We know somedays are harder to show up on your mat than others. We get it! While consistency is key for any kind of change, it’s also important to listen to your body and take some slow recovery days. More about finding that balance in this month’s news.
🚨 NEW CLASSES ALERT!🚨 We’re adding a 4:30pm OHY and 6pm Yin on Sundays with Mitch. Wednesday 5pm will be a Sculpt with Scotty! Keep an eye out for our Thanksgiving Holiday schedule.

OUR HIIT CLASSES

Want the biggest bang for your buck? HIIT is a Tabata-based fitness class that will get you fit quickly while having a total blast. Why Tabata? These short, intense bursts of exercise followed by brief rest create significant fitness gains and improve cardiovascular health and endurance. This is a class that you can modify to your energy level, take it down or ramp it up depending on what you’re looking for.

First described by the Japanese scientist Izumi Tabata in 1996, Tabata and his colleagues conducted a study that compared moderate-intensity continuous training at 70% of maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max) for 60 minutes, with HIIT conducted at 170% of VO2max.  The study found that HIIT improved aerobic capacity to a similar degree as moderate-intensity continuous training, but also resulted in a 28% increase in anaerobic capacity.

In short, HIIT rapidly increases heart rate, boosts metabolism and improves aerobic and anaerobic fitness in a short amount of time. We’ve got a HIIT class on the schedule every day of the WEEK! Check out our schedule or app to book yours.

FRC FOCUS: HIPS

One our fave FRC focuses this month- it’s HIPS! Let’s get those hippies moving and grooving. We’re looking for internal & external rotation of the femur in the hip socket, along with flexion & extension. Can’t find one or more of these movements? We got you! Try these HIP CARs and get yourself to Kin to see how to get your hips working optimally so you can feel good walking, hiking, biking, dancin’, and working out in the hot room.

CORE VALUE: PERSEVERANCE

Perseverance is one of our Five Core Values: Showing up and following through.
Listen, we know that some days are harder than others to show up. We also know that consistency is key to any kind progress. Make a habit out of showing up and listening to your body. The 10 minute check in is a great trick for this! Ask yourself  within the first ten minutes of a class how you’re body is feeling. We love to see people taking care of themselves in the hot room, just as much as we love to see you showing up!

PRACTICING GRATITUDE

It’s a skill, just like anything else. Practicing gratitude can do wonders for your mental well-being and sometimes it’s a simple as stopping to notice something you feel grateful for. Let’s celebrate the season together with our Gratitude Wall! Next time you’re in the Studio write one thing you’re grateful for on a sticky note and post it on our gratitude wall. Let’s see how many stickies we can get! We’ll have the wall up for the whole month of November.
